The following journals are edited by students, faculty, and friends of the University of Iowa Literary Translation Program. The journals regularly publish translated pieces of prose and poetry from a myriad of source languages, providing a platform for talented writers and translators to showcase their work.
91st Meridian
91st Meridian is an electronic publication of the International Writing Program. It appears intermittently, and aims to contribute to general reading beyond the (national, linguistic, cultural) borders of the Anglophone sphere.
Ancient Exchanges
Ancient Exchanges is an online journal devoted to literary translations of ancient texts. Founded by Adrienne Rose in collaboration with Aron Aji, the journal is supported by the University of Iowa’s Department of Classics and MFA program in Literary Translation. The journal is an intervention born in response to the experiences of exclusion, limitation, and gatekeeping within the field of Classics. In contrast with the historically narrow perspectives of its field, Ancient Exchanges is a journal with a global perspective.
Exchanges
Exchanges is an online journal of literary translation published biannually and edited by current students of the Iowa Translation Workshop. Founded in 1989 by poet and translator Daniel Weissbort, Exchanges has published the work of award-winning writers and translators across the country and the globe, including Deborah Smith, Jennifer Croft, Jeremy Tiang, Aron Aji, Yvette Siegert, Aviya Kushner, Ottilie Mulzet, Urayoán Noel, Craig Santos Perez, Lawrence Venuti, and many others.
Turkoslavia
Turkoslavia is an online journal of literary translation edited by the members of the Turkoslavia translators collective Sabrina Jaszi, Mirgul Kali, and Ena Selimović. It was launched in collaboration with Exchanges. The journal aims to publish translations from Turkic and Slavic languages.
