The Virtual Library is central to the CTGL’s mission of providing translation educators with open-access pedagogical materials in an effort to help advance the study and implementation of translation curriculum in the US. The CTGL virtual library aims to connect translation educators, administrators, and researchers with freely available digital scholarships and pedagogical resources curated by the CTGL team.

The CTGL Virtual Library features two main areas of translation research, which have been organized into the galleries below. The first gallery “Translation Pedagogy Research” gathers publicly accessible scholarships on topics related to translation pedagogy in addition to studies on the implementation of translation in the K-16 curriculum. The second gallery, “Classroom Tools” features hands-on resources for instructors, including lectures, lesson plans, syllabi, and classroom activities centered on translation and interpretation, which have all been generated in conjunction with CTGL workshops and initiatives.

Classroom Tools Gallery

The Classroom Tools digital gallery includes pedagogical materials that have been created in conjunction with CTGL K-16 training workshops, materials that presenters and the outreach team create for CTGL workshops, as well as instructors’ educational modules and online resources that provide coaching and training for teachers to use translation in their classrooms. This gallery will be continually updated, so be sure to check back regularly for more content.

*NEW* In-Person Translation Library

We're so excited to share that over the last year, we've been working on developing an in-person translation library that can be utilized by students studying translation at the University of Iowa. This collection is continually growing and evolving, and our hope is to provide students with texts they can use for translation and translation-related study (and fun!). Our current offerings include texts translated from German, ancient Greek, Swedish, Chinese, Sanskrit, Polish, Hebrew, Farsi, Spanish, French, and many more. Our collection also features a variety of genres, including nonfiction, fiction, poetry, drama, and children's literature. Students are able to check out books for academic use and donate books they no longer want.

To visit the ever-expanding translation library in person in 523 Phillips Hall, please make an appointment through the CTGL. In the meantime, feel free to browse our collection
